Anticipation for the Wedding!

Today I found myself in Houston finishing some last minute errands to prepare for Chad and Angee's wedding, worked out at the gym, carpet cleaned the house (Dad's x-mas present) and knocked out some hours for my practicum.

Dad and I had another great talk tonight. There for a while dad and I were so intense with each other it was volatile! I love how we share mom stories. I think we are both in a good place and feeling confident with our lives without mom.

Perhaps the more interesting thing going on in my life was my last week journey. We had mom's urn service at the veteran cemetery (which was mostly a waste of time) and then I drove to Dallas to stay the night. When I woke up the next morning I picked up Courtney (a fellow couchsurfer who lives in Denver) who wanted a ride share from Dallas to Denver. She was a fascinating person for sure! We stayed overnight with a couchsurfer in Dalhart Texas and had a wonderful evening. The following day we drove into Denver by the early afternoon. I made it to the airport and flew to Austin. I spent the weekend in Austin including our college roommate reunion. I also ran 16 miles for training for my 20 mile run in Moab, UT. I squatted the 1/2 marathon and ran 3 miles before the run to reach my goal of 16 miles. On Monday, Aji let me borrow his car and I made it to Houston to help Angee and Chad with wedding tasks.

I miss mom. It hurts my heart that she won't see Chad and Angee marry. My stomach is still jacked up. I have recently decided to see a gastro doc, but it won't be until I return again from Colorado in March.

This is a backtrack from the Jan. 24th weekend - I spent a wonderful weekend in Austin with my college soccer girls. It was such a fun reunion and I hope we can continue to reunite as our lives splinter off in the many directions. I also got my first and only tattoo. It is a picture of a pendent my mother gave me for Christmas 2008. When she gave me the necklace she said, "You can be a gypsy, but always remember your roots." It was also super fun to spend more time with Aji. I can't believe I have found someone else who is such a savvy traveler and craves as much socialization as I do! We have been having tons of fun together!

By the way - the photo with the cage and group of people is perhaps one of Austin's most interesting activities. It is called "Chicken Shit Bingo". You pay $2 on a square and if the chicken shits on your square you win the $100 pot! Keepin Austin weird is right!

Purpose of the Blog

The purpose of this blog perhaps is more for me than for anyone, but I have been told more than once I am hard to keep up with and my life is interesting, so I suppose it is here also for those wanting to keep up with my crazy life.
